SIDUS ENGINEERING
FOR FOCAST SAINT-DIZIER
COMPANY SIDUS ENGINEERING, SUPPLIER OF THE COMPANY FOCAST SAINT DIZIER,
FRENCH LEADER IN THE PRODUCTION OF HEAVY CASTINGS FOR ENGINES.
The Company Focast Saint-Dizier, a foundry with a very long tradition, operating in the Haute-Marne region in
France since 1937, has been able to identify in the Company Sidus Engineering the ideal Partner, in terms of
competence, economy, flexibility, ethics and high reliability, to whom they can totally entrust the executive
development of the modernization plan of a large part of their own foundry, which has already been undertaken last
2024.
Company Sidus is very proud to play the central role in this important project and because of this reason, Sidus
would like to warmly thank all the management team of the Company Focast Saint-Dizier, as well as the owners of
the company, the whole leadership and the entire Technical Staff, with whom Sidus is constantly working closely.
The orders acquired by Company Sidus are related to the engineering development, to the manufacture, installation and start-up of the following plants parts:
• NEW MOULDING FLASK AND PALLET CAR – Engineering related to the construction of new steel flasks and cast iron pallet cars; the flasks are equipped with internal clamps and have larger dimensions in comparison with the flasks previously used by the foundry, in order to be able to accept large-sized castings.
• NEW FLASK COOLING LINES – Implementation of the existing flasks cooling, in order to increase the cooling time of castings requiring it; This is possible thanks to the adoption of two new levels, each one consisting of three roller lines for the sliding of the flasks pallet cars. The movement of these huge masses is entrusted to electromechanical units, equipped with servomotors and their corresponding drives, whose management allows the recovery of the energy used, which is regenerated or reintroduced into the system for any further availability.
• NEW MOULDING MACHINE, WITH LINEAR PATTERN PLATE CHANGING SYSTEM – The new moulding machine works on the basis of the most efficient moulding systems, allowing high specific pressures to be achieved on the moulding sand and ensuring greater compactness of the sand itself around the profile of the pattern plate. It is also equipped with a linear plate change system and with a double front of devices for the automatic pattern plates change.
• NEW HYDRAULIC POWER UNIT – Supply of a new hydraulic power unit, designed to serve the new moulding machine, also integrating the servo control of other parts of existing plants in the Foundry, thus replacing the existing power unit, which will be therefore dismantled. The new hydraulic power unit, as well as with primary brand and latest generation components, is also equipped with high efficiency electric motors.
• NEW SERVOMOTORS – Replacement of old brushless motors, installed on parts of existing plants, with latest generation servomotors and their corresponding drives, whose management allows the recovery of energy used, which is regenerated or put back into the system for further availabilities.
• ELECTRICAL/ ELECTRONIC AUTOMATION AND PROGRAMS – With the installation of the new moulding machine, of the new cooling lines, of the new hydraulic power unit, of the new servo motors, all the existing electrical equipment is therefore dismantled; a new equipment, designed and created according to the latest high standards, is consequently provided, new Management and Supervision programmes are written, and parts of programs concerning existing plant sections, which are not being revamped by Company Sidus, are converted into the new language.
All supplies and corresponding above described activities are currently already being fully implemented and the same will be then fully operational at the Foundry by the end of Summer 2025.
